When there are wild apple blossoms
often the moon shows up as a flower,
paler than the rest,
and shining above the trees

It is in the dead of summer,
the flowers’ white sister,
returning to visit
and make peace to shine upon us
so the fire to come won’t seem too hard.
For the Earth itself is a flower, it says,
on the tree of stars
pale and with petals
of luminous ocean
